Border Leicester sheep produce a long wool, with a nice sheen. They are a dual purpose sheep, bred both for meat and for wool. This yarn is a 2ply fingering weight with a crisp feel and a bit of unevenness to the plies that gives a nice texture. This would be a great yarn for a shawl or other lacework. As with all our OBSS yarns, this base will only be available for a short time and cannot be reproduced.
Our skeins are hand-dyed using acid dyes and a semi solid "kettledye" process that produces bold and expressive colors. Additionally, there may be some color bleed in the yarns first wash. If you plan to do color-work with your yarn, we recommend washing it beforehand.
